Toil in the soil
Sri Vani Vidya Kendra PU and Degree College has organised a curated field trip to provide the students, a chance to experience new avenues of agriculture in order to enhance their critical thinking skills
The specific objectives were as follows:
1. To identify different farming techniques and how farmers tackle challenges during their day-to-day activities.
2. To familiarize the practical work and evaluate ones understanding of applying the theory.
3. To get information on how local farms work.
4. To identify techniques and methods used for farming
Highlights
The students were guided by the host to go through the farm and explore the practical knowledge of farming. The farmers namely Lakshmamma, Venkateshappa, Mahantesh, Kamalamma assisted the students in planting paddy stacks and also taught them the method of collecting the stacks. The conduciveness of the environment of the farm helped the students to learn more about farming practices. The insight and expertise of the host with the farmers greatly helped the successful completion of the field trip.
